Apron Swap

June 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

So I found this blog that is basically a person who puts together apron swaps! I think this would be something awesome to be involved with because you get to experiment making different aprons and get an apron of your own from someone else… anywhere in the world…. well wherever the lady sets it up for you anyway! The signup for the next swap is July 14th, so I wanted to go ahead and let everyone know so they can be prepared to sign up if it sounds like something fun you would like to do! I am planning on signing up right before I go to the beach… so I’ll remind everyone again when the time gets closer!

By the way the theme is going to be fall and pies… because apparently this woman LOVES pies… and pies are always cute anyway! Let me know if you any of you decide to do it with me! :o )

My little Crafty Luau & the Craftastrophe

June 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So me and my friends have decided to have a craft night once a month to make Christmas gifts, or just to make some fun crafts together! I hosted our first one at my house and decided to make it a little luau just for fun!

We made Altoid Tin wallets from the craft project on: Altoids Tin Wallet

Mine was no doubt a CRAFTASTROPHE which was what my friend decided to call it! She said I should turn it into something that would be considered to be CRAFTASTIC but I’m not sure mine is repairable… it sorta broke the tin! I am planning on making another one though… the correct way this time! It was a fun craft night regardless!

Fruit Dip Recipe:

I also wanted to share a quick recipe that I found for a fruit dip! All you do is mix a jar of marshmallow cream, a thing of cream cheese and some cherry juice from a jar of cherries! I also chopped up some of the cherries to mix in it as well… but really that step is optional! It was soo yummy with the fruit skewers!

Playing with Costume Jewelry

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, on Fathers Day weekend, I went to visit my Dad and my sister, Madison brought out all of her old costume jewelry that she got from an old relative.

The one thing we did make was made from an old clip on earring, and another beaded earring that we took the beads off of. We simply glued the tiny beads onto the earring with Mod Podge and used it as a ring. Pretty nice!

Self-made Ring

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

While visiting my family in Raleigh, NC on Friday my Mom brought an entire case of old beads and things to make some jewelry out of! She had some copper wire and piles of beads to choose from, so I decided to make a little ring with what I had at hand.

I chose to use an extra big bead because of the new fashion that we have right now of having HUGE rings. I gave this ring to my Mom, since it was made from her supplies, and I think she really loved it. I hope you guys love it to!

Fabric Wreath

A Fabric Wreath… cute and super simple to make!
I got this idea from: Fabric Wreath Link
I decided to use basic colors for an everyday wreath instead of making a Christmas one!
All you have to do is cut up 1 x 4 inch strips of fabric… in what ever colors you choose, and then tie them onto a wire hanger, that you have formed into a circle! And your done!

Recycled Plastic Bottle Beads

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

These were really easy to make and really fun to! I decided instead of making jewelry out of them to add a cute little decoration to my candle!

I got this idea from: Plastic Bottle Beads

Basically all I did was cut up a plastic bottle in little tiny strips, with one end coming to a point for a prettier finish! I colored them on the backside with a perm. marker and then rolled them up. I actually held them shut with my jewelry tools, and then used a lighter to heat them up and close them together!

And WALAH! They turned out beautifully!

Button Mirror

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This project is SO easy… and in my opinion its adorable!
1. Just get a wooden mirror from your local craft store, (I got mine at Michael’s and it was only like $2.50!), and pick out TONS of your favorite buttons to display!
2. Then you can glue them down with either Mod Podge or a hot glue gun, either would work fine!
3. Finished! This is one of the easiest projects that I have came up with… and its close to being my favorite! I hung mine over the kitchen sink!… just for an idea!

Chair Slipcover

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This chair was really fun to make…. and not to hard either! Unfortunately I made this a few months ago though, and didn’t take pictures while I was making it! I may make another one soon though so that I can have a How-To!
1. I got this chair at a local thrift store, I looked for something that was kinda boxy, (so that it would be easy to cover), but also comfy!
2. When I got it home I measured each side of it, literally, I put this on a drawn picture of the chair on a piece of paper, as my blueprint or pattern. Every part that has a straight line on it, I measured.
3. I then started cutting out my fabric to match the measured parts. For example the seat of it measured… ( I don’t remember the exact measurements so this is just an example)… 24 in x 20 in. So my fabric was cut one inch more than that… 25 in x 21 in. I did it that way so there would be enough room to sew it!
4. I continued this for each square or rectangle on my blueprint until I had all of my peices cut out.
5. I then sewed them all, upside down, to match where they were located on the blueprint. It did get a little confusing at times trying to figure out which way each piece was going to connect to the next… but after I put a few pieces together… it all came together in my mind!
6. I would suggest having your chair close by you while you sew to make sure that it is fitting nicely and not to snug!
7. Your finished! I decided to make a little pillow to go along the back with the extra material I had! I hope these instructions were helpful… and I’m sorry that I don’t have pictures to post!

Bringing Back LIFE to Crayons

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

These are really fun… and really REALLY easy! I actually got this idea from the DIY Network in the craft section, called Crazy Crayons! I spiced it up a little and tweaked it just a bit!
1. All you need to do is break up pieces of crayons, (I’m sure if your a Mom your kids have broken pieces all over, and I’m sure if your a crafty person then you do to!)
2. Then simply just put the pieces matched with like colors, (for example in mine there were 2-3 shades of colors in each section), into containers. I used some silicone molds that were in FUN shapes and designs. You can use anything you would like!
3. After this you can put them in the oven at *275 for about 8 minutes. Keep an eye on them because right after they are completely melted you can take them out.
4. After this put them in the freezer for about 15-30 minutes to make sure they can get nice and hard… then just pop them out!
5. Enjoy!
